Commercial Gates & Barriers in South Wales & the South West

Keeping access working

Install, repair, maintain — the whole entrance, not just the gate.

MonGate installs, repairs and maintains commercial gates, automatic barriers and access control systems across South Wales and the South West. The job is keeping your premises secure and your access working reliably — for staff arriving, for deliveries turning up, and for everyone who needs to get off site at the end of the day.

We work on systems we installed and systems we did not. Most commercial call-outs we attend were put in by somebody else, and we would far rather repair something sound than sell you a replacement you do not need.

Based in Monmouthshire, covering Newport, Cardiff, the Valleys, Bristol, Bath, Herefordshire and the South West.

What we do

Four ways we look after commercial entrances.

Repairs & fault finding

Something has stopped working

We diagnose and repair faults on commercial gates, automatic barriers, the automation behind them and the controls that drive them — motors, control boards, photocells, safety edges, loops, keypads and intercoms.

Most of the systems we attend were installed by somebody else, often years ago and sometimes by a company that is no longer trading. That is not a problem: we work on all the major makes of automation and will tell you honestly whether a system is worth repairing or has reached the end of its life.

Book a Repair
Planned maintenance

Keep it working before it stops

Regular servicing, safety checks and a written report on the condition of the equipment, so you know what is wearing out before it strands a vehicle in your entrance.

Visit frequency is recommended per site rather than sold as a fixed package — a barrier lifting two hundred times a day needs looking at more often than a gate opening a handful of times. We base the recommendation on the equipment you have and how hard it actually works.

New installations & upgrades

New equipment, or better use of what you have

Commercial swing and sliding gates, automatic barriers, replacement automation and improvements to entrances that are no longer coping with the traffic going through them.

Upgrades are often the cheaper answer — new automation on a sound gate, a better control system, or safety equipment brought up to standard without replacing the structure.

Discuss an Installation
Access control & intercoms

Who gets in, and how

Managing staff, visitor and delivery access: coded keypads, fob and card readers, audio and video intercoms, and systems that let reception release the gate without leaving the desk.

On shared and multi-tenant sites the access control usually matters more than the gate itself — people join, people leave, and whoever manages the site needs to add and remove them without calling anyone out.

Talk About Access Control
What a repair costs

Diagnostic call-out: £216 including VAT, which covers attendance and the first hour from arrival at the premises. Any additional time is charged at £108 including VAT per hour, with replacement parts charged separately.

For commercial premises, chargeable time begins when we arrive on site and includes signing in, permits, inductions, travelling within the site and establishing a safe working area.

Sites we support

The kinds of premises we work on.

Different sites fail in different ways. What the entrance has to do — and who needs to get through it — shapes both the equipment and how often it needs looking at.

  • Business premises

Offices and trade counters where staff, visitors and deliveries all need different levels of access.

  • Industrial estates

Shared entrances and multi-unit sites, where the access control has to cope with tenants changing.

  • Warehouses & depots

High-traffic entrances with vehicles that do not stop for anything, where downtime blocks the yard.

  • Schools & education

Where safeguarding drives the brief — controlled entry and supervised release from reception.

  • Car parks

Automatic barriers, loops and the controls that decide who raises them.

  • Managed residential developments

Communal gates and barriers, where the managing agent needs a system they can maintain and keep records for.

How installations work

No surprises, in either direction.

01

Details and photographs

Tell us about the site and send a few pictures. Most of what we need to give you a realistic figure can be worked out without anyone travelling.

02

Indicative quotation

We come back with a figure and what it covers, so you know whether it is worth going further before anyone books a visit.

03

Site survey, then fixed price

The survey is chargeable and confirms the ground, the power and the access. If you go ahead, the survey fee comes off the cost of the installation.

Common questions

What people ask before they call.

Yes — a good deal of our commercial work is exactly that. We work on all the major makes of automation, and we regularly pick up systems whose original installer has gone or whose current maintenance arrangement is not working. We will survey what is there and tell you whether it is worth maintaining or replacing.

It depends on the day, where the site is and what the fault is. Ring us and we will tell you honestly when we can get to you rather than quoting a response time we cannot promise. If the fault can be narrowed down over the phone, we will do that first — sometimes it saves a visit entirely.

We look at the equipment and how hard it is used, then recommend a visit frequency to suit. Each visit covers servicing, safety checks and a written report on condition, so you have a record of what was checked and what needs watching.

It is quoted per site. The process is: send us the details and some photographs, we come back with an indicative quotation, and if that works for you we arrange a site survey. The survey is chargeable, and the fee is deducted from the installation cost if you go ahead.

We work across South Wales, Newport, Cardiff, Bristol, Bath, Herefordshire and the South West from our base in Monmouthshire. If you are near the edge of that, ring and ask.

Tell us about the site

The more you can tell us up front — what it is, where it is and what it's doing — the more useful our first reply will be.

Photographs (optional)

A picture of the gate or barrier, the motor and the control panel tells us more than a paragraph. Up to three.

We only use your details to answer your enquiry. No lists, no third parties.
